Penstemon-Desert, Penstemon pseudospectabilis
One for the hummingbirds! Evergreen perennial growing 2 feet tall, 1 1/2 foot spread with showy panicles of 1 inch pink flowers late spring into fall if old flowers are removed. Flower spikes are 2-3 ft tall and gray-green leaves form the base. Full sun or light shade, drought and deer resistant. Be sure it has good drainage, for a long life. Makes a good cut flower, but save a few for the hummingbirds ad butterflies! Host plant for the common buckeye, variable checkerspot and Edith’s checkerspot butterflies.
