Hollyleaf Cherry, Prunus ilicifolia
Native to coastal California and northern Baja California. Evergreen shrub or small tree up to 12-15 ft tall with dense foliage. Small white flowers in the spring. Both the native bees and honey bees adore it so much that the whole tree is buzzing when in bloom! The fruit is a small cherry up to 1 inch in diameter, edible and sweet, but contains little flesh surrounding the smooth seed. Great for birds!
