Summer Jobs, Farm Trails, and Mothers’ Day at Bees N Blooms

The sun has returned and winter rains are almost over! We’re happy to be open again and welcoming guests to the farm on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, 10 AM to 4 PM! In Farm News this week, we have a job posting to share and want to let you know about several special days to visit the farm coming up soon.

Summer Jobs at Bees N Blooms

As we prepare for Lavender Daze 2024, we are looking for two special people to help run the Farm Stand and welcome our guests. We are looking for someone who loves interacting with people and has the ability to work Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, starting in early to mid-May and continuing through mid-July at least, with potential for continuing work.

Farm Trails Weekend, May 4-5

Sonoma County’s Farm Trails spring weekend is on May 4 and 5 this year, when many Sonoma County farms open their doors to the public to celebrate Bees, Blossoms, and Barnyard Babies. Register through Farm Trails (it’s free and helps them plan). Admission to Bees N Blooms is free. What to do on the farm? Bring the kids and . . .

  • Take a tour. We’ll be doing tours on both Saturday and Sunday. Tours are $5 per person, with reservations available through the Online Store.

    • The Buzz About Bees: Find out about what’s going on in a beehive at this time of year. 11 AM and 1 PM
    • Lavender Processing: Learn about the different varieties of lavender on the farm and how we process our lavender after harvest. Make your own sachet! 11 AM
    • Creating Habitat for Pollinators: Get some tips for designing your garden to benefit pollinators throughout the year. We’ll explore the flower arcs and the Butterfly Garden to learn about pollinator-preferred plants. 1 PM
  • Plant your own six-pack of bee-friendly plants to take home for your gardens! We’ll have a selection of fast-growing flower seeds to choose from. Great activity for kids!
  • Visit the Poultry Palace to feed the chickens and ducks, meet the new rooster (Hot Rod Roo), and see the newly hatched baby geese.
  • Play Farm Bingo to win a Bees N Blooms sticker or a honey stick! Grab a farm map and a Farm Bingo card and check off the landmarks as you explore the farm.
  • Celebrate World Labyrinth Day on Saturday, May 4. This is a time for meditating on peace as you walk the labyrinth, as well as sharing your wishes for peace on the arch in the Labyrinth.
  • Shop the Farm Stand. Find lovely lavender bath and body care products, sachets, bundles, lavender plants and other ornamentals, and tomatoes and peppers for your gardens!

Mothers’ Day at Bees N Blooms, May 12

Bring Mom out to the Lavender Labyrinth and Flower Gardens for a special Mothers’ Day treat among the spring flowers! Bring a picnic lunch to enjoy in the Pavilion. Contact us by email to us to reserve a table for your group (it’s free to reserve). Surprise your mother with a Sidekick Flowers Mothers’ Day bouquet waiting for you at your table to enjoy over lunch and take home afterwards. Reserve a bouquet through the Online Store.

Lavender Daze Starts May 18

Are you ready for lavender bloom? We can’t wait! Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays 10 AM to 4 PM, May 18 through July 14. Reservations required. Tickets available through the Online Store. Highlights this year include:

Lavender Sunset Evenings, June 5, 12 and July 3, 6-9 PM. Experience the purple at sunset, when the evening light illuminates the lavender for the perfect photo-op! Bring a picnic to enjoy in the Pavilion as the sun sets.

Jazz on the Farm. If you like classic jazz, you’ll love the John Kalleen Jazz Group! They’ll be playing in the Pavilion from noon to 3 PM on May 26 (Memorial Day weekend), June 16 (Father’s Day), and July 14 (Bastille Day).

Best Instagram shot EVER! Try out the new Lavender Adirondack chair and get the shot of the year!

The Lavender U-Cut Experience and Best Dressed Contest. The last three weeks of Lavender Daze are when we open the big lavender field for U-Cut. Dress to impress and win a lavender-themed gift from the Farm Stand for Best Dressed!

Open Fridays. Some of you want to visit during the week, so we’ve expanded our open-farm days to include not just the weekend days, but also Fridays.
