Position Available: Seasonal Event Assistant

Bees N Blooms is seeking a Seasonal Event Assistant to help with the farm’s annual Lavender Daze celebration and other farm events at our CCOF-Certified Organic farm in southeast Santa Rosa. The Lavender Labyrinth and Flower Gardens are the center of activities at the farm, and we also open the farm to the public and host events such as retreats, weddings, picnics, parties, and more. We are looking for someone who loves interacting with people to handle event setup, guest check-in, and backup cashier for the farm stand. Facility with an iPhone for rapid check-in of guests and ability to lift 30 lbs are essential for this position. Specifically, the work involves setting up and maintaining the Pavilion area during open-farm days (weekends) and for special events (as needed), checking in guests as they arrive, assisting with the preparation of farm products for sale (lavender, plants, eggs, and honey). The position is minimum two and up to three days per week (weekend days required), 8 hours per day, starting in early to mid-May and continuing through mid-July at least, with potential for continuing work.

Responsibilities:
The Seasonal Event Assistant will be involved with event setup and guest management, as well as assisting with farm stand product preparation and serving as a backup for running the farm stand. Specific responsibilities include:

• Being available to work on Saturdays and Sundays, 9 AM to 5 PM, from May 13 through July 9.
• Set up the Pavilion tables, tablecloths, chairs, and umbrellas and rearrange as necessary for events.
• Keep Pavilion area clean, including cleaning hand-washing station, hosing out portable toilets, and emptying recycling and waste cans
• Greet guests as they enter the property, check them in on the Square app quickly, and direct them to parking
• Be familiar with the farm map and answer visitor questions about logistics (bathrooms, farm stand, etc.)
• Serve as backup for assisting customers at the farm stand, including running the cash register.
• Assist in the preparation of farm products for sale (lavender, vegetables, plants, eggs, honey, bath and body-care products).
• Interact graciously with customers.
• Assist with event preparations.

Qualifications:
• Ability to interface well with the public and enjoy interactions with customers and farm guests.
• Excellent ability to use an iPhone quickly is an absolute requirement. No exceptions.
• Ability to maintain a professional and positive attitude
• Self-motivated, taking initiative to recognize and implement tasks that need to be done
• Able to maintain a lively pace of work each day
• Ability to work independently, as well as in a team setting.
• Ability to lift loads of 30 lbs
• Must be a U.S. citizen or have a work visa
• Previous retail or hospitality experience is a plus
• Must speak English well. Spanish language is a plus.

Compensation: The Seasonal Farm Stand Sales Assistant is an hourly, non-exempt position, part-time (16–24 hours per week) starting in mid-May 2023 and continuing through mid-July, with potential for continuing work. Pay rate is $16 per hour.
