Farm Tips: Drainage!

As we work on the farm each day, we are observing, learning and doing. We think some of you may enjoy seeing how things work here at Bees N Blooms, so have just launched the Bees N Blooms Farm Tips video series on our YouTube Channel. With all the rain this week (and last, and the week before that, and the upcoming week, and . . . Noah? Build us an ark!), it seems most appropriate for this first video to be about DRAINAGE! Check it out—we hope you’ll find some useful information for your own farm or garden!

And don’t forget!  Our second Garden Workshop is coming up on February 11. You can sign up through the Online Store. Hope to see you there!

February 11, 2023, 10 AM to noon: Seed starting

Early February is the time to get going with seed starting! This session will focus on the techniques and equipment needed for indoor seed starting, conditions needed for optimum germination, and timing of planting. We’ll do some hands-on seed starting, so come prepared to get a little dirty. Bring your own seeds or help us sow some of ours. We provide a tray with a selection of cell sizes and seed starter mix for planting. Sign up through the Online Store.

  1. Wow a great you tube on drainage! I especially loved it thst you mention filling our aquifers by having standing water for extended periods of time!!! Thank you Susan! Well done! Thea

    • Hi Thea,

Thanks for the kind words. Apparently, with this clay, it can take a while for water to percolate down to the water table, but here in the Santa Rosa Plain, the water table is VERY close to the surface, so it works here.

      Stay dry!
      Susan
