Calling All Lavender Growers!

Are you looking to grow healthy, vibrant lavender plants and transform your crop into something useful? Come on out to the farm for our Learn About Lavender Workshop! Join Bees N Blooms’ co-owner & founder Susan Kegley this Saturday, July 23 for an inspiring deep-dive into the fundamentals of successful, regenerative lavender farming and processing techniques. We still have a few spots available, so reserve yours soon! Tickets are $85 can be purchased through our Online Store.

Whether you’re completely new to lavender cultivation or would like to step-up your existing lavender gardening practice, this workshop is for you! Perhaps you bought a lavender plant or two from our nursery this summer and are already excited about the possibilities. We welcome all guests who are passionate about organic agriculture, intrigued by the beauty and biology of Lavandula, or simply curious about the details of our farm’s harvesting and cultivation processes.

What are the details of the day? We’re glad you asked! The workshop will run from 9am – 11am (Saturday, July 23). Susan will share her time-tested knowledge about organically growing and processing lavender. In the process, you’ll get to do some fun, hands-on work with lavender propagation, harvesting, and de-budding. Come prepared to get a little dirty!

Here at the farm, we see lavender as both an amazing food source for bees & other pollinator friends and as a healing plant that is highly valuable to people, offering medicinal benefits during bloom season and beyond. In this light, our workshop will walk you through not only how to grow thriving lavender plants, but also how you can create amazing home-made herbal products from what you grow: Think pure essential oil, aromatic buds for teas and infusions, high-quality hydrosols, and beautiful dried bundles for gifts and decorations!

From selecting the right variety for your needs to optimum plant placement and care, we’ve got you covered. We’ll discuss lavender propagation to expand your collection, as well as provide key tips for harvesting. You’ll get a full tour of our lavender processing equipment, including our Besel lavender de-budding machine and our steam distillation apparatus. We’ll also explore the exciting nuances of fragrance variations among different kinds of lavender.

Tickets for the workshop can be purchased here. We love & appreciate our fellow lavender growers! Your attendance of the Learn About Lavender Workshop also includes a gift of Bees N Blooms Certified Organic lavender oil, a lavender sachet, and a Bees N Blooms mug.

  1. I just took a trip to Croatia and became fascinated with lavender. When is the lavender harvest period in Santa Rosa?
I’d like to take the “Learn About Lavender Workshop” in the coming Fall, Winter, or early Spring months. Will you be holding that Workshop again in the coming 6-8 months?
    Thank you!

    • Hi John,

We are harvesting the lavender this month. Normally, we do the Learn About Lavender Workshop in late July, but could do a special tour in the next month or two if requested. Minimum group size is 3 people. Contact me by email (info@beesnblooms.com) to set up a date

      Best,

      Susan
