Bees N Blooms Seeks Team Member for Farm Stand Sales and Marketing
Position Available: Seasonal Farm Stand Sales and Marketing Associate
Bees N Blooms is seeking a Seasonal Farm Stand Sales and Marketing Associate to staff the Bees N Blooms Farm Stand and assist with ordering, advertising, and promoting farm stand sales and events at our CCOF-Certified Organic farm in southeast Santa Rosa. The Lavender Labyrinth and Flower Gardens are the center of activities at the farm, and the farm stand provides an outlet for our lavender products, honey, and certified organic nursery plants. We also open the farm to the public and host events such as retreats, weddings, picnics, parties, and more. We are looking for someone who loves interacting with people to run the farm stand and assist with promotion of open-farm activities. Good computer skills and social media expertise are essential for this position. Specifically, the work involves staffing the on-site farm stand during open-farm days (weekends), maintaining the online store, preparing farm products for sale (lavender, plants, eggs, and honey), creating signs and pricing information, assisting with events, and posting promotional information to social media, the Bees N Blooms website, and other venues. The position is four days per week, 8 hours per day, starting in mid-April and continuing through early August at least, with potential for continuing work.
Responsibilities:
The Seasonal Farm Stand Sales Associate will be involved with sales and promotion of farm products and will also provide support for farm tours and events. Specific responsibilities include:
- Staff the Bees N Blooms on-site farm stand on open-farm weekends.
- Maintain items and inventory in the Virtual Farm Stand online store and prepare orders for pickup.
- Promote the farm using social media and the Bees N Blooms website.
- Ensure sufficient quantities of farm stand documents (maps, business cards, brochures, etc.) are available and participate in their production.
- Prepare farm products for sale (lavender, vegetables, plants, eggs, honey, bath and body-care products).
- Be responsible for stocking the farm stand, pricing items, and maintaining inventory count.
- Accurately manage and record all cash and credit card transactions.
- Interact courteously with customers.
- Maintain the farm stand space to keep it clean and functional.
- Assist with event preparations.
- Assist with farm tours and on-farm educational events.
Some flexibility in hours is possible, except for the farm stand hours of 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekend open-farm days.
Qualifications:
- Ability to interface well with the public and enjoy interactions with customers and farm guests.
- Excellent computer skills and a willingness to learn new software are absolute requirements. No exceptions.
- Experience with social media, such as Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok
- Ability to maintain a professional and positive attitude
- Self-motivated, taking initiative to recognize and implement tasks that need to be done
- Able to maintain a lively pace of work each day
- Ability to work independently, as well as in a team setting.
- Ability to lift loads of 30 lbs
- Previous retail experience is a plus
- Must be a U.S. citizen or have a work visa
- Must speak English well. Spanish language is a plus.
Compensation: The Seasonal Farm Stand Sales Assistant is an hourly, non-exempt position, part-time (32 hours per week) starting in mid-April 2022 and continuing through mid-August, with potential for continuing work. Pay rate is $16-$22 per hour, depending on experience.
