Description

Coreopsis-Lanceleaf, Coreopsis lancelolata

Lanceleaf Coreopsis is a bright and dependable perennial that produces sunny golden-yellow daisy flowers from late spring into early summer, often reblooming with deadheading. This long-lived herbaceous perennial forms a tidy clump about 12–24 inches tall and spreads 12–18 inches, making it ideal for borders, meadow plantings, and pollinator gardens. It thrives in full sun and prefers well-drained soil, tolerating sandy or average garden soils and even lean conditions. Provide low to moderate water; once established it is quite drought tolerant. In Zone 9, it is typically winter dormant, dying back after frost and re-emerging in spring. It is fully frost hardy and reliable in Mediterranean climates. The nectar-rich blooms attract bees, butterflies, and beneficial insects, while the foliage is generally deer resistant and moderately rabbit resistant; gopher resistance is fair to moderate. Deadhead spent blooms to encourage repeat flowering. Excellent for cottage gardens, native-style plantings, cut flower gardens, and drought-tolerant landscapes, Lanceleaf Coreopsis brings cheerful, low-maintenance color to sunny spaces.
