Each plant produces only one color flower, so buy several to ensure a variety of colors. Monarda attracts bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds to the garden. Also known as bee balm, Oswego tea, and scarlet bee balm. Above-ground parts of the plant can be used in infusions to improve digestion. Leaves and blooms contain thymol-related antibiotic-antiseptic essential oils. Perennial in Zones 4-9.
