Thank you!

It’s been a hectic summer, but with the winter rains arriving we’ve finally had time to relax a bit and catch up on the indoor work. As Thanksgiving approaches, we wanted to take a moment to thank all of the people and small businesses that have worked with us to make our vision possible. We started with a blank slate–a lovely open field at the base of Taylor Mountain–and we have made some major changes this year as we work with the land and the space to develop the infrastructure for the Bees N Blooms farm.

We installed irrigation and electrical infrastructure throughout the 11 acres, built a shed, designed, constructed, and planted a vegetable garden, installed a 5,400 gallon water tank to water our plants through the hot Santa Rosa summers, installed solar panels and a new septic system, landscaped part of the property with bee-friendly perennials, applied for our organic certification, graded and graveled new roads, paths and steps to allow easy access to the property, added soil amendments and tilled the  soil, laid out and mounded up the circles for the lavender labyrinth, and installed the irrigation and turf in the labyrinth. Whew! We’re exhausted! But we’re ready for the 1,000 lavender plants, which will arrive next week. We’re excited to get them in the ground and watch them grow.

I say “we” did these things, but we simply could not have done it without all of the wonderful help we’ve had. Please visit our Bees N Blooms Recommends page to find out more about the contractors and small businesses that helped us make the farm what it is today.

Thank you for following us (sign up below if you are new to the site) and stay tuned for more, as the farm develops.
