Celebrate World Labyrinth Day, May 4, 2024

Labyrinths are found throughout the world, with the oldest dating back thousands of years. Currently, there are more than 6,365 labyrinths in more than 90 different countries around the world. Most labyrinths feature a single path that winds its way into the center and then back out again. In contemporary times, labyrinth-walking is a form of moving meditation, providing opportunities for personal reflection, spiritual practice, and the reduction of stress.

Fun Facts About the Bees N Blooms Lavender Labyrinth

Designed and built by owners Susan and Geoff Kegley in 2016, the Bees N Blooms labyrinth is 7-circuit, right-turning, medieval-design labyrinth. Measuring 170 feet in diameter, the Bees N Blooms labyrinth is the largest in California. The labyrinth is composed of 900 lavender plants. Each circuit of the labyrinth is formed by a different variety of lavender. From the outer circuit in, the varieties are: Hidcote Giant, Munstead, White Spike, Folgate, Melissa, Violet Intrigue, and Gros Bleu.

The path into the center of the lavender labyrinth is 1/2 mile long. Wooden bridges are provided along the way for walkers who wish to leave the labyrinth before reaching the center. If you want to reach the center, ignore the wooden bridges and continue following the winding path.

Fun Facts About World Labyrinth Day

Every year on the first Saturday in May, thousands of people around the globe participate in World Labyrinth Day as a moving meditation for world peace and planetary healing. This year, May 4, 2024, marks the sixteenth annual World Labyrinth Day. On World Labyrinth Day, participants dedicate their labyrinth walks to fostering peace and healing. Many participants will “Walk as One at 1” by walking a labyrinth at 1:00 p.m. local time to create a rolling wave of peaceful energy passing from one time zone to the next around the globe.

We welcome you to share your wishes for peace on the arch in the Bees N Blooms labyrinth.
