The Lavender Labyrinth Experience
This Path – What is this path…This place of quiet spiral that takes me home to myself…to the whispers of soul, to the breath of body, to the place where word and song meet in the space between longing. By: Lea Goode-Harris
Bees N Blooms is the home of the largest Lavender Labyrinth in Northern California! This mysterious, ancient symbol has captured human imagination for thousands of years, all around the world. Dating as far back as 4,000 to 6,000 years ago, labyrinths have been discovered in Neolithic rock carvings, Ancient Greek pottery, Spanish petroglyphs, and in medieval European cathedrals. There are many different styles of labyrinths. The one on our farm is a modified Chartres design, which was developed in the 13th century.
Today, the labyrinth has been recognized as a remedy for modern stress, and help in times of crisis and life transitions. Thousands of labyrinths can be found in medical centers, places of worship, schools, and in public parks, bringing focus and peace of mind to all who walk.
Physically, a labyrinth is a single path that’s patterned and woven within a circle, leading to the center. Unlike a maze where one can get lost, a labyrinth has a single path to the center, providing an opportunity to find yourself.
Metaphysically, it’s a spiritual tool to help “unwind” the mind, helping us heal and transform our life by leading us to the center of our hearts, where there is stillness and where our inner most voice can be heard. This introspective, coiling path attracts people from around the world in search for inner peace and self-awareness.
Take your soul for a stroll
Labyrinths can be used for meditation, reflection, and enjoyment. It offers space to quiet the mind and open the heart to reflect inward, accessing our deep inner wisdom and peace. If you choose to walk the labyrinth ritually, or just for fun, allow your mind to slow, providing an opportunity for your heart to open. Keep in mind that many emotions may come up, so gently allow them to arise as you walk and embrace them with each turn. It can be a slow and contemplative experience or fast and energizing; it can help shed layers of emotion and unravel a problem; or it can activate the mind and offer inspiration.
Lavender Love
The lavender that lines the path of the labyrinth at Bees N Blooms is certified organic, comprised of eight different varieties. The lavender provides nectar and pollen for both the honeybees and the native bees in the area, therapeutic products sold at our Farm Stand, and a lovely spot for people to recuperate from the stresses of daily life.
For more on the healing power of lavender, its essences provide aromatherapy, easing the mind of stress and inducing a sense of relaxation and inner calm. Lavender essential oil can help nourish and care for the skin and lavender buds can be used for culinary for internal benefits.
To make a perfume, take some rose water and wash your hands in it, then take a lavender flower and rub it with your palms, and you will achieve the desired effect
